UPCOMING WORKSHOPS: ISRAEL
Israel is the holy land, the crossroads of cultures and religions as well as world affairs. From iconic religious sites, to overlapping ancient and modern worlds, with the contrast of traditional Jewish and Muslim dress to bikinied beaches, to secular urban scenes with Bauhaus and skyscrapers to deserts with Bedouins and roaming camels, Israel is special.
This street photography class is designed for all levels of image-makers —iPhone’s and DSLR cameras are equally encouraged. Our goal will be to increase our visual and narrative capacities as we investigate life in this polyglot where there is much to photograph which could be unexpected and exceptional.
There will be hands on, in the moment instruction, as well as daily group critiques.
Join Photographer and Educator Stella Johnson and Yossi Zamir, an Isreali photojournalist who will help you photograph the visual cacophony of street life by making dynamic compositions that explode with light, shadow, and color and then help you to shape those images into a compelling body of work through selection and sequence.
The light of Israel at the Mediterranean seashore, in the seven hills surrounding Jerusalem, or in the Judean desert, is magical.
